Effective Date: September 2, 2026Last Updated: September 2, 2026

Ask Before HR is an independent HR guidance service. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

1. Acceptance of these terms

Top

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of the Ask Before HR website and services (the "Service"). By accessing the site, creating an account, or purchasing a service, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

Top

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding agreement to use the Service. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

3. What Ask Before HR provides

Top

Ask Before HR provides practical workplace guidance and perspective from experienced human resources professionals.

Depending on the service you select, the Service may include reviewing your description of a workplace situation and, where applicable, reviewing documents and providing written observations, questions to consider, and potential next steps.

Top

Ask Before HR is not a law firm. The HR professionals who provide guidance are not acting as your attorney.

Use of the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship, a fiduciary relationship, an employment relationship, or any other professional relationship beyond the purchased HR guidance service.

Communications through the Service are not protected by attorney-client privilege.

5. Your responsibility

Top

You remain responsible for your own workplace, employment, financial, medical, and legal decisions.

You should consult a licensed attorney, medical professional, government agency, union representative, or other qualified professional when appropriate.

6. No contact with your employer

Top

Ask Before HR does not represent you before your employer and will not contact your employer, HR department, manager, attorney, government agency, or any other third party on your behalf unless a separate written agreement expressly provides otherwise.

7. Accuracy of your information

Top

You must provide complete, accurate, lawful, and truthful information when using the Service.

Guidance may be limited or inaccurate if material facts or documents are omitted.

8. Sensitive information in documents

Top

Before uploading documents, please remove unnecessary Social Security numbers, bank information, medical record numbers, passwords, and unrelated third-party personal information.

Share only what is reasonably necessary for your reviewer to understand your situation.

9. Purchases and payment

Top

Prices are displayed before purchase. All purchases are one-time transactions, not subscriptions.

Payment must be successfully completed before service begins.

Payment processing is handled by our payment provider, Stripe, according to its practices and terms. Card details are entered on the provider's secure checkout page.

10. Turnaround times

Top

Any stated response period is a service target, not an absolute guarantee.

The response period begins only after successful payment and our receipt of a complete intake submission and all reasonably required documents.

Requests for missing information pause or delay the response period until the requested information is received.

Business days exclude weekends and recognized holidays.

11. Refunds and cancellations

Top

Refund and cancellation terms are described in our Refund & Cancellation Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

12. Acceptable use

Top

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Do anything unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, threatening, harassing, defamatory, or discriminatory.
  • Invade another person's privacy.
  • Submit documents you do not have a lawful right to share.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, or misuse the Service or its systems.

13. Intellectual property

Top

Ask Before HR owns its site content, branding, questionnaires, frameworks, and original guidance materials.

You may use the guidance you purchase for your own personal purposes, but you may not resell, republish, or commercially distribute it.

You retain ownership of the information and documents you submit. By submitting them, you grant Ask Before HR permission to use them only as reasonably necessary to provide and administer the Service to you.

14. No guaranteed outcome

Top

Guidance is based on the facts you provide and professional judgment. Ask Before HR does not guarantee a particular employer response, workplace outcome, settlement, legal result, continued employment, promotion, accommodation, or any other result.

15. Third-party services and links

Top

The Service may include links to or rely on third-party services. Ask Before HR is not responsible for the content, practices, or availability of those third parties, and your use of them is subject to their terms.

16. Service availability and the right to decline

Top

We strive to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

Ask Before HR may decline or terminate a request that is unlawful, abusive, outside the scope of the Service, or that would create a conflict of interest. If we decline a paid request, you will receive a refund as described in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

17. Warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability

Top

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties beyond those that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ask Before HR is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable rights you may have under applicable law.

18. Governing law

Top

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless your local consumer-protection laws provide otherwise.

Disputes may be brought in the courts of competent jurisdiction; these Terms do not require mandatory arbitration.

19. Changes to these terms

Top

We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date shown above indicates the most recent version. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

20. Severability, entire agreement, and contact

Top

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. These Terms, together with the policies referenced in them, form the entire agreement for the Service.
